July / 2019CENERO is awarded the tender for the Großpösna Generation Park.
Sustainable and economical approach: CENERO Energy GmbH developed a concept for an efficient and sustainable energy supply for the multi-generation residential park in Großpösna. A local heating network will supply the six-hectare area between Sepp-Verscht-Straße and Pflaumenallee. In the municipal council, CENERO's concept won the bid because it was not only the most economically attractive offer, but also an energetically sensible solution due to the synergistic effects with the nearby Pösna Park.
"Pösna Park stood tall like a cathedral in the landscape, now the whole area will be vitalised with the Generation Park. The number of inhabitants will increase, as will the quality of life. With our local heating network, we can offer a central solution at the right time that has a sustainable effect," says Stefan Jung, Managing Director of CENERO. As an energy strategist, CENERO concentrates its activities over three projects in this area:
- As "consultant and energy project manager", CENERO is coordinating the construction of the heating network for Pösna Park Leipzig on behalf of the asset manager Catalyst Capital. The energy optimisation of the largest shopping centre in the south-east of the city is the outcome of a previous potential analysis.
- As a heat supplier, CENERO is rebuilding the energy centre in Pösna Park and investing a six-figure sum in new generation plants. A highly efficient combined heat and power plant (CHP) and gas peak load boilers will generate the required heat and ensure security of supply.
- As the supplier, CENERO is building a complete district heating network for the Generation Park. The ring network will distribute the heat throughout the very diversified structure of the settlement. More than 100 buildings, from single-family homes to three-storey buildings, a day-care centre, a nursing home with senior housing units and social housing projects do not need to build their own supply.
The residents can now purchase the district heating on a long-term basis and at a favourable price. Other synergies such as supplementary load profiles will maintain the advantage: the retailers in Pösna Park tend to use heat from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., while in the Generation Park the demand for heat tends to be in the mornings and evenings.
The engineering team from CENERO, which has been overseeing the projects since the very beginning, emphasises other advantages besides the financial savings: "Clean air for the residents! Since the heat is generated in Pösna Park, which is remote from the Generation Park, we avoid producing emissions in the residential area."
The community will be relieved of substantial investments through the cooperation with CENERO. From around mid-2020, more than 150 points of consumption will be supplied with heat from CENERO. Meanwhile, the company is examining how other measures can enhance the energy performance of the area, for instance through an integrated e-mobility concept.
